The Tree of Hope is a colorful fused glass wall art ensemble commissioned by Scripps Health at the Prebys Cancer Center in San Diego, CA. Installed in the cancer treatment center lobby, the art energizes this healing environment while welcoming patients, staff, and visitors with an inspiring life-size tree that celebrates cancer survival.
Scattered throughout the tree's branches are 20 individual colorful cancer ribbons made of painted metal to raise awareness of particular cancers and provide hope for those facing specific cancer treatments. Cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, and those working for a cure, often wear ribbons as a symbol in the fight against the disease. The glass tree and ribbons beautify this important healthcare clinic and are a successful example of how art becomes a visual storytelling method.
